Today we had some time to finish SDRO Handout 8. Then, we reviewed the answers together and revised our answers as needed. We then arranged ourselves into our groups for the project and heard the project requirements. Here's what you need to do:

1. Complete SDRO Handout 8. For the CEA/R argument on page 3, search for pictures of complete and incomplete metamorphosis. Use that as a reference to help you write your argument.
2. Download the SDRO Handout 8 answer key. Review your answers and revise as necessary. Make any revisions in a separate color.
3. Download the life cycle project handout below. Review the information on the handout so you are prepared to work with your group member on the Monday we return from break.

Absent Students
Today we continued observing cells and practiced labeling them. Here's what you need to do:

1. Complete the life cycle project form (link below) to let me know your project preference and with whom you'd like to work.
2. Download the SDRO Handout 7 Addendum and add it to SDRO Handout 7 in Notability.
3. Read the instructions on the addendum.
4. Go to the Biology Project page (link below) and sort all 36 cells. If you make a mistake, click "Try Again" and select the correct cell.
5. Count and record the total number of each cell on the data table on page 4 of SDRO Handout 7. Convert these to percents and then calculate the time.
6. Go to page 3 of SDRO Handout 7 and label each of the cells as interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, or telophase/cytokinesis. Do not label any cells are that cut off (by the edges of the picture) or those in which you cannot clearly see its contents.

Today we refilled our our Fast Plant systems with more nutrient solution, we reviewed the answers to SDRO Handout 6, sang the mitosis song, and started observing cells in the cell cycle. Here's what you need to do:

1. Contact your group for your Fast Plant nutrient data.
2. Review my answer key (uploaded after 3pm) and check your answers to SDR Handout 6. Revise and update as necessary.
3. Watch the Mitosis Song video (it's just for fun).
4. Download SDRO Handout 7. Complete the review on page 1. Look at the image on page 3 and practice identifying the cells in different phases. You don't need to do anything else to this.

2. Think about which project version you would like to work on and with whom you would like to work. You will need to tell me this (on a form) by Wednesday, November 18th.

Today we worked on SDRO Handout 6. Here's what you need to do:

1. Review pages 86-91 of the SDRO textbook.
2. Download Student Sheet 5.2 below and save it to Notability.
3. Draw the genetic material (in the appropriate form) on each page of the student sheet. I've done prophase for you (see image below) to see what this looks like. Reference the textbook (pp. 86-91) to help you make your drawings.
4. Download SDRO Handout 6.
5. Screen shot the correct page of Student Sheet 5.2 into the correct box on SDRO Handout 6. (Ex: Page 1 of Student Sheet 5.2 should be screenshot'ed onto page 2 of SDRO Handout 6).
6. Beneath each picture write a thorough description of what occurs during that stage of the cell cycle.

A few important notes:

• For the definitions on page 1:
  - Interphase: the cell carries out its life functions, grows, and duplicates DNA and organelles
  - Mitosis: the duplication of the nucleus
  - Cytokinesis: the splitting of the cell
• The diagrams on page 91 of the textbook show more chromatids than the other diagrams in the reading. There should only be 2 per nucleus (or 4 total per image; not 6).

Today we worked on writing our butterfly arguments. Here's what you need to do:

1. Have another 7B student review your rough draft of your argument using the feedback sheet below. Do this step on your own, too! It never hurts to have more than one review of your work.
2. Write a paragraph for your final argument. You may also treat each part (e.g. the claim, data, etc.) as their own paragraphs.
3. Submit this as a PDF to the Butterfly Argument assignment in Schoology.

1. Check your answers against my sample answer key (I'll upload this after 3pm). Your answers don't need to match mine exactly. But, the same idea should be present in your answer. Modify your responses as needed using a different color.
2. Download SDRO Handout 5 Addendum 2. Add this to SDRO Handout 5 (do not make its own handout). Complete all the boxes. This is a draft of your final work.

Today we made a data table and counted the droppings colors. Here's what you need to do:

1. Make a data table for Notability. This needs to be cleanly made (i.e. make a table in Pages and screenshot it into Notability).
2. Gather your class period's data from the spreadsheet (link below).
3. Calculate the mean for each color for your period, even if the data is incomplete.
4. Write a conclusion based on the data you have.
